Made in Mexico | Our Story

Zihuatanejo's heart beats in every plate
Made in Mexico is rooted in the bold, comforting flavours Fernando Bravo grew up cooking in Zihuatanejo — family recipes that have never left the menu.

A family recipe comes to Canada
Fernando grew up in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, where cooking was woven into everyday life. After meeting his wife Janet and moving to Canada, he brought those family recipes with him — and naturally started feeding everyone around him.

From home table to restaurant table
What began as friends and neighbours gathering in the Bravo home to eat grew, dish by dish, into Made in Mexico Restaurant & Cantina. Fernando's daughter Romina joined the family mission, helping try new recipes and shape the menu into what you see today.

People having fun serving people having fun
That's the motto Fernando and Janet live by, and you feel it the moment you walk in. The goal has never been a transactional meal — it's a warm room, generous plates, and guests who leave feeling like they just visited a friend's home.

Sharing the story on Food Network
Fernando and Romina took their family's culinary story to a wider audience when they appeared on the Food Network's You Gotta Eat Here with host John Catucci, cooking dishes straight from the Made in Mexico menu.
